About the Artist

Mr. Wu Yunzhi, born in Linyi, Shandong Province, now living in Beijing, graduated from Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, is now the master of Chinese painting course tutor of Renmin University, China National Academy of Painting Tang Xiuling modern heavy color Studio professional painter. Member of Chinese Poetry Society, member of Chinese Artists Association, member of Chinese Painting and Poetry Research Association, director of Chinese Pastoral Painting Association, visiting scholar of Renmin University of China.

Wu Yunzhi's works are liked by many private collectors and he has won numerous national awards for both his ink painting and his metal and wood carvings, as well as his poems. I personally can’t agree more with one of his core theory, that is, a person who can really paint ink painting well must have sinked himself into the cultivation of Chinese culture in all aspects. Only when cultivation, aesthetics and skills are not a problem, can we talk about the real creativity. Mr. Wu not only thinks so, but also does so, especially in his study of ancient poetry and metallography. Such well-rounded skills are really rarely seen among contemporary painters. This also contributes to the unpretentious, primitive quality of his paintings and the relaxed, quiet beauty of the old days. At the same time, he also integrates the atments of gold and stone into the ink painting creation. The elements of stone and rubbings are both novel and full of ancient classical implications, while visually striking and refreshing. In addition to incorporating the touchstone approach into traditional painting, Wu's paintings also pursue the interesting depiction of literati life in details, such as the scattered sunflower seeds next to a fan and the tiny pair of seven-star ladybugs on a potted leaf...... Everywhere you look, you can see the artist's ingenuity, the kind of work that suddenly pulls us from the impetuous reality back to the quiet, cool spiritual home.
