About the Artist

Zhu Cunguang, Born in 1970, Henan Province, China. Zhu is a member of Chinese Artists Association and a resident painter at Beijing Yanshan Academy of Painting.

Zhu Cunguang started painting as a young child under his family influence and has practiced ink wash painting for over 40 years by far, during which he had the chance to improve his skills under the tutor of great master Feng Dazhong. He's particularly famous for his Gongbi style painting of animals, which not only demonstrates very skilled traditional brushworks but newness in the way he combines Simao brushworks, freehand as well as Gongbi so as to devise a very unique and modern aesthetic appeal.

Zhu Cunguang has held numerous solo exhibitions at national level and overseas. He's also kept a fast rising record for the sales of his art works through various galleries. in 2017, one of his art pieces painting on sheep was sold online for USD18098.42, and the off-line price has tripled since.

Under Zhu Cunguang's brushworks, the animals, be it tiger, lion, or sheep, dog, often show a very gentle side in their nature. And his clever shifts between lines, dots and ink realms make the form of his main object very precise and vivid, while in the same time, his capacity of creating a background that enhances that "tenderness" mood is remarkable.
