About Lu's Artworks:
Lu's ink artworks often experiment on various modern methods inspired by western oil painting yet without losing the essence of Chinese ink painting - the spiritual pursuit of sheer solitude and repose. His "Deers in the Woods" series attempt to take the balance of wet and dry brush works, as well as the agile shifts between dots, lines and ink mists, to the extreme. The strength and softness of the brush, the straightness and curves of the lines, together, created a sense of flowing movement of calmness or vigour, while in the same time, the adaptation of modern methods transforms the traditional two-dimension ink art to three-dimension with the depict of shadows and lights.
In this particular work, it depicts a scene in the fall in the forest combining traditional freehand brushworks with oil painting techniques and color spray, which creates depth for the work and enhance the damp, sentimental emotions of the scene. Premium xuan paper with underpinned layer for easy keeping or framing.
