About the Artist
Jiang Meiyan, born in 1956, in HeiLongJiang province. She’s a member of China National Artists Association and visiting scholar at China National Academy of Arts.
Sweeping away the introverted, quiet and proud purview of traditional meticulous brushworks, Jiang Meiyan has chosen to bring her artworks into the modern cultural context, broken through the rules and concepts of traditional techniques, mixing Gongbi, freehand, spray and various techniques with a strong passion and stunning creativity. In some of her recent works drawing on nature, religion and the universe, she integrated Chinese and Western art in the open concept, drawing on the use of colors in western painting, creating contrast between light and shade, amplifying surreal aesthetic charm of the painting with exaggeration and distortion of forms and sophisticated mixing of color effects, which naturally gave her artworks a very powerful personal mark.
Jiang Meiyan's work has been offered at auctions multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 18,077 USD to 142,252 USD. Some of the artworks she collaborated with the renowned ink painting master Fan Zeng have won numerous awards and favored by many collectors in China and abroad. She’s held solo exhibitions in United Emirates, Italy and many other places around the world. In 2012 a small ink painting of flower was auctioned for USD142,252 USD by Poly Auction International Co. And the price of her artworks has been constantly on the rise ever since. She was ranked No. 73 on Hurun Rich List in 2013 and she is chosen as one of “the top 20 most collectable contemporary ink painting artists“ by the world art authorities. Also, she was chosen by Tianjin Fine Arts Publishing House to publish her own “Da Hong Pao“ artwork collection <A Collection of Contemporary Masterpieces >- an art collection being considered the highest regard for the achievements of an artist in China, and the previous artists who have had their collections published are renowned masters such as Li Keran, Fan Zeng, Jia Youfu, Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi, etc.
