About the Artist
Wei Shina, MFA, member of China National Artist Association, Associate Professor and visiting scholar at Chinese Academy of Arts, listed as “National first-Class Artist“.
As a female ink painter, Wei definitely has a “softer“, more famine approach to the artistic world she’s created with her skillful brushworks. The color effect gives viewers the feeling as if the artwork is a reflected image from water - moist, clear and transparent. the brushworks feels gentle, fluent and effortless. She loves to paint a non-existing ancient utopian world and figures in her paintings, be it a fisherman, a farmer or a scholar, all seem much at ease. the composition somehow sets a musical rhythm which is cheerful, relaxed and leisurely. Although she often chose to paint ancient themes, the aesthetics obviously has a very modern and youthful appeal, which she managed to achieve with her unique approach to forms and colors. And the reason that Wei loves to paint ancient utopian world is highly connected to her belief - as she puts, “the mission of art or as an artist is to create a solution to the life we live in. there are many ways to do it and my choice is clear, I’d like to use my art as a tool to put the viewer’s mind at ease, to make them feel that whenever chaos and troubles they are experiencing in this life, they shall find a moment of peace and joy when they view my art and hopefully from the healing power of these art works, they see beyond the momentary difficulties and see a hope, a light ahead of their path“.
Currently, We Shina’s official price evaluated by authority is about USD500 per 1.1sqm.
